Design Thinking at HMA 

Design Thinking is a methodology for creative, collaborative and community-oriented problem solving. It is built into every aspect of our programming.

By using design thinking methods, HMA students look to themselves for solutions to challenges they see in their communities and develop confidence that they can be agents of change for the world. The best inquiry-based education generates questions, such as ‘Is there a better way to do that?’, ‘How can I apply that idea in my life or community?’ , and ‘Is that commonly-held assumption really true?’  Asking better questions will lead to better solutions. 

Design Lab

Our Design Lab, equipped with laser cutters, 3D printers, and tools of every kind, is the heart of our design program. Every HMA student takes at least one course in the Design Lab.
