Clubs and Co-curricular Activities
HMA’s clubs and co-curricular activities are a fundamental part of our programming.
Clubs are student designed and led, giving students a chance to explore their unique talents and interests, develop leadership skills through service as club heads, deepen bonds of friendship and just have fun. Some of our most popular clubs include Robotics, Sustainability, Drama, Design, Student Newspaper, Model UN and Community Service.
Our robust athletics program includes soccer, basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee and kickball. We have a beautiful new gym with a separate, well-equipped physical fitness room, as well as a regulation size football field and 400-meter track.
In addition to the leadership of clubs, students practice leadership, community and service through service as Dorm Heads, as Gojo (house) captains, as HMA Student Ambassadors (chosen to give tours to our many visitors and prospective families), and through election to our Student Council.
We also take students on educational field trips, from visits to local business or sites for primary research on academic projects and local hikes as well as (safety permitting) longer trips such as to Menz Guassa Community Conservation Center as a part of student orientation week.
